SideNote — Reply Assistant BETAPrivacy policy

What is processed
After the user grants X access, SideNote processes text and author/link information from displayed posts locally to place reply entries. Only when the user requests drafts does the extension send the selected post's text, public author, URL, and visible quoted context to SideNote's Cloudflare service. For live drafting, that service forwards the selected context and a writing instruction to its AI provider. Sample-only access returns fixed examples without an AI request. These uses serve only the requested reply-drafting feature.
Access boundaries
SideNote does not access X passwords or cookies, DMs, bookmarks, following lists, or Chrome browsing history. It does not use the X API, fetch linked articles, or upload page HTML, images, videos, or neighboring posts as drafting context. A selected post's public URL is included in its drafting request.
Local data
Drafts, edits, manually written replies, consent choices, and reply-use history are kept in Chrome local storage. Only replies explicitly confirmed as Posted become personalization samples. Future drafting requests may include a bounded numeric/categorical style summary, not historical replies, prior post IDs, or edit histories. If the user selects Reply on X, the chosen text is copied and included in the official X composer URL for the user to review.
Access credentials
The browser stores a random installation token to connect to SideNote. The service stores only its hash and the installation's access and usage records. This is not an X password or login token.
Service records and optional analytics
Content-free technical records may include success or error class, token and cost counts, version numbers, sanitized provider request IDs, timing, installation ID, and time. After separate consent, content-free product events may include reply direction, generated/edited/manual source, text lengths, edit distance, elapsed time, version, and the user's explicit Posted or Didn't post outcome. These records never include post ID, author, URL, post text, prompt, draft, edit, or manually written reply and are retained for 90 days.
Sharing and sale
Selected public content is shared with hosting and AI processors only as needed to provide drafting. SideNote complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is not sold, used for advertising, or used for unrelated credit or lending decisions.
Controls and deletion
Extension settings let users pause or reset personalization, delete local drafts and reply history, disable optional analytics, and delete previously shared product events. Advanced settings can export or import local drafts, preferences, Reply Lab results, and confirmed outcomes; credentials and permissions are excluded. Removing the extension deletes its Chrome-managed local storage. Contact support to request revocation of service access or deletion of service-held data; limited security or legal records may need to be retained.
Public actions
Reply on X opens X's official composer. SideNote does not fill X DOM inputs, click Post, or perform a write through the X API. The user makes the final publishing decision.
